Kindred Paws was born from a lifetime of love, loss, and an unshakable connection to animals.

Tracey Deason has loved animals for as long as she can remember—but her journey truly deepened in 2012 when she co-founded a rescue with her best friend.

After a devastating loss, she carried that mission forward alone, opening her home and heart to dogs who had nowhere else to go—the overlooked, the misunderstood, the ones who needed a little extra time, patience, and compassion.

For over a year, she became a safe haven for the “hard-to-place,” meeting each animal where they were and giving them the care they needed—whether that meant helping them heal, helping them trust again, or simply giving them a soft place to land.

Alongside that, Tracey built and ran a successful virtual assistant business for over 20 years while raising her children—balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood in a way that only a truly driven woman can.

After her children graduated, she stepped fully into hands-on animal care, spending two years at Ruff-N-It Pet Boarding, where she worked in kennel management, daily care operations, and client support. There, she gained firsthand experience not only in the physical care of pets, but in understanding the deep emotional bonds between animals and the people who love them—supporting both through moments of excitement, anxiety, transition, and everything in between.

Throughout every chapter, one thing has remained constant: a deep respect for the role animals play in our lives—from the joyful beginnings to the quiet, difficult goodbyes.

Kindred Paws is the culmination of all of it—her love for animals, her lived experience with loss and healing, her hands-on care experience, and her belief that every stage of a pet’s life deserves to be met with compassion, presence, and dignity.
